Woodspring Psychological Services: Experience
Experience
I have over twenty five years' experience as a therapist and was among the first in
the country to gain the British Psychological Society's designation, "Chartered
Counselling Psychologist". In addition, I have been employed part-time by
various organisations such as colleges, counselling services, Employee
Assistance Programmes and the NHS.
Following my first degree in psychology I embarked on research in the area of
self esteem in children with a physical disability for my doctorate. Towards the
end of those studies I began my counselling training and gained my counselling
diploma and PhD within a few months of each other, in 1984 and 1985.
My experience as a trainer began shortly afterwards and I began supervising
counsellors after another year or two.
In the main, I work with young people and adults, whom I see individually. Many are self referred, while others are referred by their doctors or other professionals or are given my details by their health insurance company.
